Surprisingly, I still find that many producers do not use expected progeny differences (EPDs) as a primary selection tool for their bull. Many select their next herd bull based only on physical appearance or a perceived ability to perform, or low birth weight.

Hereford Association Announces Fall 2014 Gold TPR Breeders; Fall EPDs are Online

Thirty-two dedicated Hereford breeders achieved Gold TPRTM (Total Performance Records) status for fall 2014, according to the American Hereford Association (AHA). Also, the AHA has released the updated EPDs for fall 2014. The EPDs and the updated Trends, Traits and Distributions report are available online at Hereford.org. The Gold TPR Breeder recognition is presented to progressive Hereford breeders who have measured traits and collected and promptly submitted performance data at all levels of production. read more
