Upper Midwest farmers stock up on rail-fed propane

It's likely propane supplies won't run out for farmers on the Northern Plains this year, officials say, because of increased rail-fed propane capacity and more retail and customer storage. Also, the federal government is forecasting prices 23.8 percent lower than last year, at $1.99 per gallon, compared with $2.61 a year ago, and consumption down 13.2 percent.

More than 200,000 remained without power Sunday morning in southeastern Michigan, two days after powerful and deadly storms ripped across the state, downing trees and power lines. Calling Friday's weather with wind gusts of up to 75 mph "one of the strongest storms to hit southeast Michigan this year," DTE Energy said more than 2,000 lines were downed and it has enlisted the help of 600 linemen from utilities across the country.
