Citadel malware variant uses content localization to target brands and users in different countries

A new variant of the Citadel financial malware uses in-browser injection techniques combined with extensive content localization to steal log-in credentials and credit card information from users in different countries, according to researchers from security vendor Trusteer. Citadel has the ability to modify or replace websites opened by users on infected computers. This is known as a man-in-the-browser attack and is frequently used by financial Trojan programs to trick users into exposing their log-in details and other sensitive information.

Mongabay: Deforestation has sharply increased in Amazon countries outside of Brazil, finds a new analysis based on satellite data. Using data from Terra-i, O-Eco's InfoAmazonia team has developed updated forest cover maps for Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, French Guyana, Peru, Suriname and Venezuela. The results reveal a 24 percent increase in forest loss between 2011 and 2012 and an increasing trend since 2004. RTCC: Belgium, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and the USA have pledged nearly $200 million in climate adaptation investment to the worlds poorest countries. Contributions will be channelled through the Least Developed Countries Fund and the Special Climate Change Fund (LDCF/SCCF), which are managed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
