Nigerian energy company Oando Plc has prepaid $238 million out of the $900 million it borrowed to part finance the acquisition of ConocoPhillips' Nigerian oil and gas business, the company said on Tuesday. Oando bought ConocoPhillips's upstream oil and gas business in Nigeria last July for $1.5 billion, helping it transition from a marketer of refined petroleum products into one of the top players in the West African country's oil industry.

Exxon borrowing $7 billion through bond deal, as oil prices stay low

With oil prices down by half since last summer, Exxon Mobil is borrowing billions of dollars to help navigate what is expected to be a long downturn for the industry. The Irving-based company is in the process of soliciting buyers for a $7 billion bond issue, its largest ever, according to a source close to the deal who asked not to be identified and multiple news reports.
