Dutch multiplay revenues grow to almost EUR 1 billion in Q3

(Telecompaper) Revenue generated by Dutch telecom operators from multiplay subscriptions grew to EUR 993 million in the third quarter of 2015, up by 7.4 percent compared with the same quarter in 2014. The revenue growth was driven by an increase in the number of broadband households signing up for multiplay services. The number of households with quad-play subscriptions, including both fixed and mobile services, grew to more than 600,000 at the end of quarter, according to Telecompaper's Dutch Consumer Multiplay Market 2015 Q3 report.

In this report we analyse the Dutch telecoms markets from a bundling perspective. We report on the number of 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P subscribers, based on both company reports and our own calculations and estimates. Our assumption is that broadband is the leading telco service. Hence we focused on multiplays containing broadband. It is a proxy for households, now that broadband penetration is approaching 100% (assuming further that subscribers only very rarely take two separate broadband subscriptions).

Mobile payment apps reach 2 mln Dutch smartphones

(Telecompaper) Mobile payments are becoming more common in the Netherlands. Already almost one in six smartphones carries a mobile payments app, equal to around 2 million users, double the number a year ago, according to the December edition of Telecompaper's Dutch Apps Market report. The study also found that WhatsApp remains the most popular app in the country, installed on around 10.7 million smartphones.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines to start SLC-Amsterdam flights

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines announced Tuesday that it will begin offering flights between Amsterdam and Salt Lake City beginning May 5. Initially, the flights will be offered twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. Frequency will increase to three times per week, including Mondays, beginning July 4. The new KLM flights will supplement the existing daily flight in the summer between Salt Lake City and Amsterdam operated by Delta Air Lines in partnership with Air France KLM .
