Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway has gifted $328,220 of property to Seattle Pacific University . The quarter-acre property adjoins the Burke-Gilman Trail along the northern perimeter of the SPU campus.
Decision Still on Hold for BNSF Tracks

A decision soon could come from the La Crosse city council on whether to sign off on a plan for Burlington Northern to add a second set of tracks from State Road to the rail company's northside yard. The council has voted to hold a special session on the plan for the double tracks that would run along the city's Forest Hills golf course and through the marsh.

Two people have been hit by a freight train traveling on a bridge over the Naches River in West Yakima. Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad spokesman Gus Melonas says he does not know the extent of their injuries or any identifying information.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe is paying for 142 Washington firefighters to receive training in Pueblo, Colorado, in oil train accidents. The Seattle Times reports the classes began in July and will continue through the end of the year.
