Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway's plans to replace its bridge at the west end of Hewitt Avenue have been placed on hold after a large records request from opponents have held up the timeline. A group of waterfront business owners and residents recently appealed the city's tentative nod to let BNSF replace the aging bridge on the main line with a dirt berm.

The San Joaquin County Planning Commission Thursday will consider a development agreement application with UPRR for its intermodal facility expansion project. According to Thursday's agenda, the development agreement is intended to set timing for land use approvals and infrastructure improvements, as well as allow UPRR to complete the planning, finance and development of the 278-acre property.
