Lahey Hospital & Medical Center will soon open a primary-care facility in Pawtucketville, practically in the front yard of Lowell General Hospital, among its closest competitors. Already, Burlington-based Lahey has primary-care offices in Billerica and Wilmington, and a mental-health office next door to Lowell General on Varnum Avenue.

PHILADELPHIA - With billionaire investor Carl Icahn about to acquire Pep Boys, which has its corporate headquarters in North Philadelphia, the city is asking a favor from the new owner: Keep the operation in the city. According to philly.com , the 79-year-old Icahn recently won a $1 billion bidding war for the 95-year-old car parts company, beating out Japan's Bridgetone Corp. in the process.
