(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics has provided an earnings guidance for the third quarter, with revenues and profit seen lower year-on-year, but higher on a sequential basis. Samsung said it expects revenues at KRW 61-63 trillion, off from last year's 65.46 trillion but better than the 56.13 trillion reported in the second quarter. The consolidated profit meanwhile is expected at KRW 7.6-7.8 trillion, a steep drop from the record figure of 17.57 trillion achieved the year before. Compared to the previous quarter's KRW 5.18 trillion however, the number is an improvement.

Singtel's quarterly profit drops 7%, revenue stable year-on-year

(Telecompaper) Singtel announced that its operating revenue was stable at SGD 4.13 billion in the quarter ended 30 June. Revenue increased 2 percent in constant currency terms. Australia performed strongly, registering higher customer growth across both the consumer and enterprise segments, while mobile data remained a key growth driver. EBITDA was stable in constant currency terms.

Singtel's quarterly profit drops nearly 6%, revenue up 8%

(Telecompaper) Singtel reported operating revenue up 8.3 percent year-on-year to SGD 4.23 billion in the quarter ended 30 June. EBITDA was up nearly 3 percent to SGD 1.26 billion, while net profit fell 6 percent year-on-year to SGD 892 million, as a result of lower associates' contributions and exceptional charges for workforce restructuring at Optus. Free cash flow was SGD 1.2 billion.

Softbank FY profit drops 27% on Brightstar writedown

(Telecompaper) Japanese operator Softbank reported net profit for the fiscal year to March 2016 down 26.9 percent to JPY 558.2 billion, hurt by writedowns of JPY 153.2 billion on its foreign investments, mainly mobile phone distributor Brightstar.. Revenues rose 7.6 percent to JPY 9.153 trillion, while operating income climbed 8.8 percent to JPY 999.4 billion.
