2014-07-22 13:37:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Verizon saw its annual revenue growth accelerate to 5.7 percent in the second quarter, to USD 31.5 billion, helped by continued strength at its mobile activities. Cost control help operating profit jump 17.2 percent from a year earlier to USD 7.7 billion, and the margin improved to 24.4 percent from 22.0 a year ago. The adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 37.6 percent from 35.9 in Q2 2013, and adjusted EPS rose to 91 cents from 73 cents a year ago. Verizon Wireless drove the increase sales, with mobile revenues up 7.5 percent year-on-year to USD 21.5 billion. The wireless EBITDA margin on service revenues rose to 50.3 percent from 49.8 percent a year earlier. In the wireline market, revenues rose 0.3 percent year-on-year to USD 9.8 billion, the first increase in seven years. The operator maintained its full-year guidance for capital expenditure of USD 16.5-17.0 billion, after USD 8.5 billion in H1.
