With a deadline approaching, FirstEnergy Corp. has moved into core construction on a necessary project at its Bruce Mansfield power plant in Beaver County. According to FirstEnergy Generation President Jim Lash , the company has decided to move ahead with the project -- construction of a facility that will remove water from the plant's stream of coal ash slurry -- to ensure that the plant can continue operating beyond Dec. 31, 2016.
