LG unveils Wing smartphone with swivel screen and dual displays

(Telecompaper) LG has unveiled its new premium smartphone, the LG Wing. The first model in its Explorer project to develop new form factors, the Wing screen can swivel out from the body to reveal a second screen below. The double screens are expected to support new forms of mobile productivity and entertainment.

Microsoft Surface Duo: Rethinking the Smartphone

Though we communicate far differently these days, and the apps we use to communicate seem to prefer larger screens. This brings us to Microsoft's Surface Duo, which has twin screens and is very different from the foldable phones with which it will compete.

LG to develop new smartphone forms under Explorer Project

(Telecompaper) LG Electronics has announced plans for a new range of devices exploring new form factors in the smartphone market. Dubbed the 'Explorer Project', the campaign will kick off with an online event by LG on 14 September. A teaser video shows a phone that splits in half to swing open and create a horizontal display mounted on the standard phone body above the keyboard. Earlier media reports said the phone is codenamed the 'Wing'.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 smartphone to go on sale from 18 September

(Telecompaper) Samsung announced that its new foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, will go on sale 18 September for USD 1,999. Customers trading in one of its previous folding models, the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip, can get up to USD 800 towards the new phone.

Global smartphone sales down 20% in Q2 on continued Covid-19 impact - Gartner

(Telecompaper) Global smartphone sales fell by 20.4 percent in Q2 2020 to 295 million as the mobile phone industry continued to be impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to new research from Gartner.
