Hawaiian Holdings Inc., parent company of Hawaiian Airlines , reported a third quarter profit of $35.6 million, or 56 cents per diluted share, compared to a profit of $40.6 million, or 76 cents per diluted share, for the same quarter in 2013. Honolulu-based Hawaiian Holdings also reported adjusted net income, reflecting economic fuel expense, of $9.5 million, or 79 cents per diluted share, in the third quarte, an increase of $12.7 million or 10 cents per diluted share year-over year.

United Airlines makes Hertz exclusive car-rental partner

United Airlines on Tuesday said Hertz will become its exclusive partner for car rentals on its booking website, united.com, and United's elite-level fliers and credit-card holders will get bonus frequent-flier miles for booking with Hertz. The changes take effect for rental cars picked up on Nov. 1 or after.

JetBlue Airways raised fares by $4 per round trip on a small number of routes Thursday, and Delta Air Lines picked up and greatly expanded the breadth of the increase, according to FareCompare.com CEO Rick Seaney and J.P. Morgan analyst Jamie Baker.
