EPA Proposes Updates to Air Standards for Newly Manufactured Woodstoves and Heaters
2014-01-03 06:00:00| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
EPA is proposing standards for amount of air pollution that can be emitted by new woodstoves and heaters, beginning in 2015. Proposal would make next generation of stoves and heaters an estimated 80% cleaner than those manufactured today, leading to important air quality and public health improvements in communities across the country. Proposal would affect wood heaters manufactured beginning in 2015 and will not affect units already in use or currently for sale today. This story is related to the following:Trade Associations

A Newly Discovered Underground Lake in Greenland Will Help Us Understand Climate Change
2013-12-27 08:01:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Time: The Earth may be more than 4.5 billion years old, but it can still surprise us. Scientists have discovered a gigantic liquid water reservoir underneath Greenland`s massive ice sheet. (The discovery was reported in an article in this week`s edition of Nature Geoscience.) Uncovered accidentally by a team of glaciologists who were drilling ice cores in southeastern Greenland in 2011, the aquifer is more than 27,000 sq. miles (69,930 sq. km) large--bigger than West Virginia--according to data from NASA`s...

Newly Detected Greenhouse Gas Is 7,000 Times More Potent Than CO2
2013-12-13 01:21:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
LiveScience: A greenhouse gas that is thought to have a potent impact on global warming was detected in trace amounts in the atmosphere for the first time, according to a new study. Researchers at the University of Toronto discovered very small amounts of an industrial chemical, known as perfluorotributylamine (PFTBA), in the atmosphere. While only traces of PFTBA were measured, the chemical has a much higher potential to affect climate change on a molecule-by-molecule basis than carbon dioxide (CO2), the...
