Grocery Outlet Bargain Market announced Tuesday that it plans to open 14 stores in the greater Los Angeles area beginning in December - a move that will create about 500 jobs. The Emeryville-based company, a self-described “extreme-value” grocery retailer with more than 227 locations throughout California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington, said the store openings will continue into 2016.

St. Asaph St. Patch photo, taken before store opening The Alexandria Police Department announced Monday morning it has made two arrests in a series of bomb threats targeting the Harris Teeter grocery store located at 735 N. St. Asaph St. in Alexandria. The threats were made between April 30 and July 20. The Harris Teeter received five bomb threats in all and evacuated their customers for each occurrence, according to police.

Durham Police Department investigates officer-involved grocery store Taser incident

The Durham Police Department's Professional Standards Division and supervisory staff are investigating a Wednesday incident at a local Harris Teeter, which was alleged by a witness to involve the use of excessive force. "Officers were told that a male refused to leave the store after being asked to do so by store management," Durham police said in an emailed statement Thursday.
