Southwest Airlines asks for a dozen daily flights to Cuba

The Dallas-based carrier said it wants to fly out of three different airports in Florida, with most of the daily service leaving from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport. "We're ready to add Cuba to our route map and offer this emerging market Southwest's low fares, bags fly free with no change fees, and our legendary customer service," said Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly in a statement.
Air New Zealand to resume Osaka flights

Using Boeing 767-300 aircraft, the airline will operate three return services per week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between November 2016 and March 2017, subject to government and regulatory approvals. With a flight time around 11 hours, the outbound service will depart Auckland at 10.25am and arrive at Kansai International Airport in Osaka at 6.00pm, the same day.

Big airlines say contractor bankruptcy won't disrupt flights

If you fly on American Eagle, Delta Connection or United Express, there is a good chance you have been on a plane operated by Republic Airways, which just filed for bankruptcy protection. The three leading U.S. airlines say, however, that the bankruptcy of a key supplier will not disrupt service for passengers.

U.S. Airlines Scramble for Cuba Flights

Last Tuesday, the U.S. and Cuba signed an historic agreement allowing scheduled flights between the two countries to resume after more than 50 years. This follows the renewal of diplomatic ties between the two countries last summer.

Southwest to expand flights from ONT to Portland

ONTARIO >> Beginning Aug. 7, Southwest Airlines will offer additional service between L.A./Ontario International Airport and Portland, Oregon.  “It's great news that service from ONT to Portland is available, and Southwest Airlines is filling a need for travelers,” said Jess Romo, airport manager, in a statement. “We're confident that this will be a popular and successful destination from Ontario.”  The announcement of daily, nonstop service between Ontario and Portland is the first new domestic service added by Southwest Airlines since 2010, when Southwest began offering nonstop service to both Chicago Midway and Denver.
