Norway completes auction of 700 MHz band, Ice top bidder

(Telecompaper) Norway has completed an auction of mobile spectrum in the 700 MHz and 2.1 GHz bands in two days. The smallest operator Ice was the biggest spender, acquiring frequencies in both bands, and Telenor and Telia also bought licences for the 700 MHz band. In total, the auction raised NOK 735 million (EUR 75 million).

Norwegian 700 MHz, 2.1 GHz spectrum auction starts

(Telecompaper) Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said it started the 700 MHz and 2.1 GHz auction on 03 June, enabling bidders to acquire important 5G frequency resources for the next 20 years. It is offering 2 x 30 MHz in the 700 MHz band and 2 x 15 MHz in the 2.1 GHz band. It will publish the results once the auction has finished.

Canada raises CAD 3.5 bln in 600 MHz auction, Rogers top bidder

(Telecompaper) Canada has raised CAD 3.47 billion from the auction of licences in the 600 MHz band for mobile services. In total, 104 licences were awarded to nine Canadian companies, including 40 licences to regional providers, covering the entire country.

Denmark completes auction of 700, 900, 2,300 MHz bands, TDC takes most lots

(Telecompaper) Denmark has completed its auction of the 700, 900 and 2,300 MHz bands, raising total proceeds of DKK 2.21 billion (EUR 296 million), the Danish Energy Agency announced. All four operators won frequencies in the 700 and 900 MHz band, while market leader TDC took the available lots in the 2,300 MHz band and 700 MHz SDL range.

Dutch govt studying transition for 210 MHz licenses

(Telecompaper) The upcoming Dutch multiband auction will also redistribute the 2100 MHz band. At the request of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, PA Consulting assessed the possible impact of this on the current service provision. KPN, T-Mobile Netherlands and VodafoneZiggo use this band for a mix of 3G and 4G.
