Verizon to open ThingSpace IoT platfrom to third parties

(Telecompaper) Verizon has outlined the gains made by its ThingSpace platform since launch in October 2015. ThingSpace is a platform allowing businesses of all sizes to build consumer applications enabled by the IoT. The company said at Mobile World Congress that over 4,000 developers are now using ThingSpace. It announced plans to open up the platform to third-party network and technology service providers. Verizon will also introduce a new set of tools addressing security concerns.

Google Gives iOS Devs Open Source EarlGrey Testing Tool

Google last week introduced EarlGrey, a functional user interface testing framework for Apple iOS apps. YouTube, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Translate and Google Play Music have successfully adopted the framework, the company said. EarlGrey has been open sourced under the Apache license. Developers can add it to their projects using CocoaPods or manually add it to Xcode project files.

FB To Push Open Source Wireless

A new initiative by Facebook aims to speed the development of wireless networks by promoting more open source network components. The social network announced the launch of the Telecom Infra Project at Mobile World Congress taking place in Barcelona this week.
