Tyson Fresh Meats Inc. announced that its case ready beef and pork plant in Council Bluffs will hire about 60 additional workers and add new lines for the production of pork chops and roasts. Tyson Fresh Meats is the beef and pork subsidiary of Tyson Foods Inc. "We're excited to create more jobs in Council Bluffs," said Doug Griffin, complex manager at the Council Bluffs facility.

On Thursday Fairfield-based GE said it would create a "European Turboprop Center for Excellence " for GE Aviation employing between 500 and 1,000 people, on the heels of plans to set up a similar gas turbine production center in France.
