A federal judge in Arkansas says he won't certify a complaint against Whirlpool Corp. as a class-action lawsuit because he is not sure whether residents of a polluted Arkansas neighborhood or the company is the driving force behind it. The Southwest Times Record reported that U.S. District Judge P.K. Holmes III rejected a joint motion seeking class-action status and approval of a proposed settlement.

Arista Board Member Blasts Cisco's Lawsuit

Now an Arista board member has fired back with some pointed comments. Dan Scheinman, in a blog post on Arista's website, wrote that the Cisco suit is an "attempt by a legacy vendor that is falling behind in the marketplace to use the legal system to try and slow a competitor who is innovating and winning."

Whirlpool Lawsuit Settlement Wiped Out By Class Action Rejection

A federal judge has rejected the certification of a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool Corporation, wiping out a proposed settlement between the company and nearby Fort Smith neighbors who had filed complaints against Whirlpool. Fort Smith property owners filed a class action lawsuit last year against Whirlpool because of the company's contamination of nearby groundwater with the chemical TCE.
