Louisiana sugar growers say Mexico is causing pain in the cane, but the feds may be sweet on helping. The International Trade Commission ruled this week that Mexican trade practices appear to be creating an unfair playing field for U.S. growers in sellers in Louisiana and other states. With a 5-0 vote taken Friday, ITC members they belive there is evidence that the low price of Mexican sugar compared to U.S. sugar is the result of unfair trade practices.
