Samsung postpones Tizen smartphone launch
2014-07-28 12:21:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Samsung has delayed the launch of its first Tizen smartphone, originally scheduled to go on sale in Russia in Q3. In a brief statement, Samsung said that it was postponing the launch of the Samsung Z, the Wall Street Journal reports. The company cited a need to "further enhance [the] Tizen ecosystem," a reference to an apparent shortage of apps for the new platform. The company didn't offer specifics on any future plans for the operating system, or on the timing of any coming Tizen smartphone launches. In June, Samsung showed a prototype of the phone and announced the launch date for Q3. However, it failed to present the commercial device at a developers' conference for Tizen in Moscow earlier this month.
