Sealed Air to break ground Thursday on Charlotte headquarters

Sealed Air Corp., the Fortune 500 company behind Bubble Wrap, plans to hold a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for its new global headquarters at the LakePointe Corporate Center, the company said. The campus, expected to be completed by the end of 2016, consists of three buildings that will house more than 1,200 employees, including current staff from three divisions.

Fire investigators say a large fire at a recycling plant in west Charlotte Wednesday was accidental, but have not said exactly how the fire is believed to have started. The fire broke out just after 3 p.m. at a Caraustar Recovered Fiber facility on the 2400 block of Chamberlain Avenue, just off of Rozzelles Ferry Road.

AT&T Inc. has launched its high-speed Internet service in Charlotte, beating to the punch Google Inc. and others vying to bring fiber connections and gigabit speeds to the Queen City. The telecom announced Monday that its U-verse with AT&T GigaPower service is available now to business and residential customers in some parts of the city.
