New documents have surfaced that show Sen. Dianne Feinstein - as a favor to Southern California Edison - wrote the United States ambassador to Japan, Caroline Kennedy, asking her to intervene with the government of Japan to put blame on Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the flawed equipment that brought down the San Onofre nuclear plant. Feinstein wrote to Kennedy on November 14, 2013.

Senator Stabenow introduces Renewable Chemicals Act of 2015.

BIO thanked Senators Stabenow (D-MI), Coons (D-DE), and Franken (D-MN) for introducing S. 2271, the Renewable Chemicals Act of 2015, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide credits for the production of renewable chemicals and investments in renewable chemical production facilities. S. 2271 would create a targeted, short-term tax credit of 15 cents per pound for production of eligible renewable chemicals from biomass feedstock.

Environmentalists, senator appeal to intervene in Exxon case

Environmental groups and a New Jersey senator have appealed a judge's ruling that they can't intervene in the state's $225 million settlement with Exxon Mobil over contaminated gas stations and other sites. The New Jersey Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Environment New Jersey, the Delaware Riverkeeper Network and state Sen. Raymond Lesniak filed their appeals last week.
