Idaho Power contests proposed central Idaho solar projects
2015-08-03 00:10:16| Energy - Topix.net
Idaho Power is asking state officials to rule that 10 solar projects proposed for central Idaho are instead one big project and should fall under a different set of regulations more favorable to the energy company. The Idaho Public Utilities Commission last week opened a case concerning Site Based Energy's project near Bellevue and is taking public comments through Aug. 14. "These ten projects are all located at the same site, on the same contiguous property, and divided into ten sections," Idaho Power said in its request to the commission.

Obama's climate plan seeks to slash emissions from power plants
2015-08-02 22:54:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Reuters: The White House said it will launch the first ever rule on Monday to cut carbon emissions from power plants, a plan that opponents in the coal industry and their political allies will fight in the courts. In a fact sheet issued on Sunday, the White House said President Barack Obama's Clean Power Plan will cut emissions by 32 percent from 2005 levels by 2030. The plan cuts emissions about 9 percent deeper than a last year's draft, the White House said. But it gives states two years more to cut...

Associated Press: Aiming to jolt the rest of the world to action, President Barack Obama moved ahead Sunday with even tougher greenhouse gas cuts on American power plants, setting up a certain confrontation in the courts with energy producers and Republican-led states. In finalizing the unprecedented pollution controls, Obama was installing the core of his ambitious and controversial plan to drastically reduce overall U.S. emissions, as he works to secure a legacy on fighting global warming. Yet it will be up to...

White House axes efficiency from state clean power targets
2015-08-02 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Greenwire: U.S. EPA's final Clean Power Plan will no longer base state targets, in part, on estimates about how much they could boost energy efficiency, an administration official said. President Obama on Monday will release the final rule for existing-power-plant carbon emissions that does not include the draft version's "building block 4," the official said, reconfiguring the way states are assigned emissions reduction responsibilities. The change will not limit states' ability to tap energy efficiency...
