Claro, Movistar, Entel win 700 MHz spectrum in Chile

(Telecompaper) Chilean telecoms regulator Subtel has announced that Movistar, Entel and Claro each won a spectrum block in the 700 MHz band. Movistar won Block A offering CLP 4.24 billion, Entel offered CLP 6.8 billion for Block B, and Claro got Block C for CLP 404 million. The three operators have 24 months to deploy their networks nationwide, to expand the coverage of 4G mobile services and broadband connections across the country. Claro, Entel and Movistar have 18 months to provide connectivity to 1,281 remote and isolated communities, 503 schools, and 12 national roads and highways (854 km).
Claro slapped with USD 138.5 mln fine in Ecuador

(Telecompaper) Ecuador's anti-monopoly watchdog Superintendencia de Control del Poder de Mercado (SCPM) has fined Consorcio Ecuatoriano de Telecomunicaciones Conecel, a unit of America Movil, USD 138.5 million for abuse of market power. Conecel operates on the local market under the Claro brand name. Claro currently holds a share of 67 percent of the local mobile market, serving nearly 15.5 million customers, El Nuevo Herald reports. The fine is equal to 10 percent of Claro's revenues in 2012, SCPM said.

(Telecompaper) Colombian antitrust agency the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) has fined America Movil's local unit Claro COP 87.8 billion (approximately USD 45.2 million) for abusing its dominant position on the mobile market and practices that affected free competition.

Net, Claro launch quad-play offer in Brazil

(Telecompaper) America Movil's Brazilian subsidiaries Claro and Net Servicos announced they will start offering quadruple-play packages of broadband, fixed and mobile telephony and pay-TV. The Multi Combo plan offers free calls to landlines and Claro mobile phones across the country. For the mobile service, customers get a choice of 100 or 600 minutes per month, unlimited SMS and data plans of 2 GB or 5 GB a month. For existing Claro customers, the data franchise will be 500 MB or 2 GB. The telephony plans can be combined with any pay-TV and broadband package from Net. For customers who already have pay-TV from Net they can add the fixed and mobile telephony plan starting from BRL 149.80. For those who have not subscribed to Net, the quad-play is available from BRL 199 per month.
