Developer plans mixed-use project in Doral after buying former Teva plant

An affiliate of Hines plans to build a retail, hotel and commercial project in Doral after purchasing the former Teva Pharmaceuticals plant. Two affiliates of the Israel-based company sold a 78,130-square-foot building on 11.9 acres of land to 8800 Doral LLC, an affiliate of Houston-based Hines, for $26 million.

Lifestyle centers were the stars of the retail development universe in the 2000s. Shoppers flocked to these properties, which typically featured a single-story, open-air design and upscale tenants. Since the recession, however, only a few of these centers have been built, and its unlikely that more of them will come out of the ground. Castle & Cooke starts construction on $50M Kakaako mixed-use project

Castle & Cooke Homes Hawaii Inc. officially started construction Friday on its $50 million, 400 Keawe mixed-use project in the Honolulu neighborhood of Kakaako, which includes 95 units and 10,000-square-feet of commercial space on the ground floor of a low-rise tower. Located on the corner of Keawe and Auahi streets on a 1.5-acre site, the six-story project will include 75 market-priced and 20 reserved housing units in one- to three-bedroom floor plans ranging from 581 square feet to 1,327 square feet.
