Nassau County leaders are close to forming a "consensus" to house video slot machines at Belmont Park, after running into vehement local opposition at another proposed location, according to an official familiar with the talks. "It looks like there's a consensus to put them at Belmont" race track, said the source, who requested anonymity because plans haven't been finalized.

Google's crusade to light up U.S. cities with gigabit speed Google Fiber has expanded to potentially include Oklahoma City and Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida. In a blog posted Wednesday, Google said it invited the capital city of Oklahoma and the two Florida cities to "explore" bringing faster fiber to their communities.

Bike lanes eyed in fixup of Verrazano Bridge

The Verrazano Bridge could get a $400 million bike path and walkway as part of an overhaul of the 50-year-old span. An engineering firm hired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's is developing a master plan the bridge that will include the agency's first study of bike and walking paths.
10,000 visitors eyed in 17th Davao Trade Expo

Some 10,000 visitors are expected to join the 17th Davao Trade Expo which will champion the livestock industry in the Davao Region, an executive of Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry said. This year's trade expo, dubbed as "Building Local Products for the Global Community", will be held at the SMX Convention Center Davao at the SM Lanang Premier on September 25 to 27. Jonathan Suy, co-chairperson of the 17th DATE, speaking in Monday's Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City, said 80 percent ofmthe 170 booths are already filled up with exhibitors who will showcase various products and technology in the region.
