Air France-KLM April traffic falls 1%

Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM said Monday its April traffic fell 1% from the same month a year ago to 7.4 million passengers, dragged down by lower passenger numbers on short- and medium-haul flights. Traffic on the group's low-cost unit, Transavia, rose 7.6%, partly offsetting declines registered by other units of the group in Europe.

Steelcase's sale of iconic pyramid to education group falls apart

Plans to turn a pyramid-shaped former Steelcase research facility into a STEM-focused education hub appear to be dead after the sale of the facility fell through. Jerry Zandstra contends Steelcase Inc. pulled out of the deal after the Grand Rapids office furniture company got a better offer.

US Unemployment Falls to Lowest Level Since May 2008

The trucking industry added 1,392 jobs in April as the unemployment rate dropped to 5.4%, the lowest level since May 2008, the Labor Department said May 8. The 223,000 net increase in overall employment followed an 85,000 gain in March that was the smallest since June 2012. "The pace of employment is quite encouraging," said Gregory Daco, head of U.S. macroeconomics at Oxford Economics USA Inc. "Wage growth is accelerating, but it's quite gradual, more gradual than we would expect in a market where the unemployment rate is 5.4%."

SandRidge Energy (SD) Stock Falls on Revenue Miss

SandRidge Energy reported revenue of $215.3 million for the first quarter, down 51.4% from the year-ago quarter, and below analysts' estimates of $328.57 million for the quarter. The company reported break-even earnings for the first quarter, above analysts' estimates of a loss of 1 cent a share.
