ANSI announced 21 recipients of 2015 Leadership and Service Awards, which recognize significant contributions to national and international standardization activities as well as ongoing commitment to industry, nation, and enhancement of global voluntary consensus standards system. Honors include various medals, Next Generation Awards, and Meritorious Service Awards. Recipients will be honored during September 30 ceremony held in conjunction with World Standards Week 2015 in Washington, DC.

Vodafone reorganises European leadership structure

(Telecompaper) Vodafone has announced a wide-ranging reorganisation of its European leadership structure with a view to streamlining management efficiency and accelerating decision-making in key markets. The company said the CEOs of its four largest European markets Hannes Ametsreiter in Germany, Aldo Bisio in Italy, Jeroen Hoencamp in the UK and Antonio Coimbra in Spain will become members of the Group Executive Committee and report directly to group chief executive Vittorio Colao starting 01 October. Vodafone Netherlands CEO Rob Shuter will also join the Group Executive Committee and assume additional leadership responsibilities for Vodafone's smaller European markets while also reporting directly to Vittorio Colao. The company also announced that Vodafone CEO for the Europe region, Philipp Humm, would leave the group later in the year to continue his CEO career outside Vodafone.

ASTM President's Leadership Award honors Jane LaGoy.

Jane LaGoy, technical services manager at Bodycote, received 2015 ASTM International President’s Leadership Award. ASTM member since 2010 and active member of Committee B09 on Metal Powders and Metal Powder Products, LaGoy serves as B09 secretary and chairs Subcommittee B09.05 on Structural Parts. She has been instrumental in development of and revisions to key ASTM standards for powder metallurgy industry. She also works on other ASTM committees as well.

Kent Jason Lowry, M.D., orthopedic surgeon at Northland Orthopedic Associates in Rhinelander, WI, is a recipient of the 2015 ASTM International President’s Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals early in their ASTM career who have significantly advanced Society’s mission through extraordinary accomplishment, example, and vision. His many contributions include chairing the task group that developed important new standard for labeling of orthopedic implants used in joint arthroplasty.
