Cisco quarterly results fall as expected, sees further sales drop in Q1

(Telecompaper) Cisco reported a further fall in revenues and profit in the company's fiscal fourth quarter to July. Revenue fell 4 percent year-on-year to USD 12.1 billion, and net profit was down 14 percent to USD 2.4 billion or USD 0.48 per share, in line with the company's outlook. Results also fell over the full year, with revenue down 2 percent to USD 48.0 billion.

(Telecompaper) Lenovo reported revenues down 6 percent year-on-year in its fiscal first quarter to June to USD 10.1 billion, hurt by the slowdown in the PC and smartphone markets. Gross profit fell 7 percent to USD 1.5 billion, giving a margin of 15.3 percent, while net profit increased 64 percent to USD 173 million, thanks to cuts to operating costs.
Tele2 quarterly EBITDA falls 22%, sales up 1%

(Telecompaper) Tele2 reported a drop in second-quarter profits as the company increased commercial spending in an effort to accelerate sales in its largest markets, Sweden and the Netherlands. While revenues rose slightly to SEK 6.668 billion from SEK 6.611 billion a year ago, EBITDA dropped to SEK 1.087 billion from SEK 1.393 billion. The margin dropped to 16 percent from 21 percent a year ago. After SEK 95 million in restructuring charges and a higher tax bill, Tele2 posted a net loss of SEK 60 million from the quarter, versus a profit of SEK 309 million a year ago. Tele2 maintained its outlook for mobile end-user service revenue growth in the mid single digits in 2016, after 2 percent growth in Q2.

Qualcomm grows quarterly sales more than expected

(Telecompaper) Qualcomm reported an improvement in results for its fiscal third quarter to June, as the company rebuilds its licensing business in China, the world's biggest market for smartphones. Revenues rose 4 percent year-on-year and 9 percent sequentially to USD 6.0 billion, better than the company's forecast, and operating profit was up 29 percent annually to USD 1.6 billion. Sales were helped by USD 235 million in deferred revenue recognised after settling its licensing dispute with LG. Net profit increased 22 percent to USD 1.4 billion, and adjusted EPS jumped 17 percent to USD 1.16, with an 11-cent boost from the LG deal. MSM chip shipments were still down 11 percent year-on-year to 201 million, but grew 6 percent compared to Q2 and came in higher than forecast.
