Westar: Power restored to most Topekans after a bird and a squirrel cause outage

Multiple outages left a large swath of central and western Topeka without power starting at about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday. Westar Energy indicated it expected the power to be back on for most customers by 9 a.m. Wednesday, and said the power was back on to most homes shortly after 8 a.m. About 4,800 customers had been affected, Westar representatives said.
