Lenovo quarterly sales fall 6%, net profit improves

(Telecompaper) Lenovo reported revenues down 6 percent year-on-year in its fiscal first quarter to June to USD 10.1 billion, hurt by the slowdown in the PC and smartphone markets. Gross profit fell 7 percent to USD 1.5 billion, giving a margin of 15.3 percent, while net profit increased 64 percent to USD 173 million, thanks to cuts to operating costs.

Telecom Egypt Q2 net profit jumps on Vodafone dividend

(Telecompaper) Telecom Egypt (TE) reported a 175 percent increase in net profit to EGP 1.04 billion for the second quarter ended 30 June from EGP 378 million in the same period 2015. The operator attributed the growth to higher revenues, and an increase in income from investments, primarily attributable to Vodafone Egypt.

TDC Q1 net profit rises 22% but revenue drops 6%

(Telecompaper) Danish operator TDC said that revenue in the first quarter of 2016 fell by 5.9 percent to DKK 5.827 billion, with EBITDA down 10 percent at DKK 2.227 billion but net profit rising 22.1 percent to DKK 624 million. It said it maintains its 2016 guidance, and that the launch of the new YouSee box in its home market of Denmark is off to a good start.

Deutsche Telekom Q1 net profit quadruples, sales up 4.7%

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom reported a four-fold increase in net profit for the quarter, to EUR 3.125 billion from EUR 787 million a year ago, thanks to a profit of EUR 2.5 billion on the sale of its stake in EE to BT. Adjusted EBITDA at the German operator rose by 12.9 percent to EUR 5.2 billion, and revenue was up 4.7 percent to EUR 17.6 billion, led by the strong performance of T-Mobile US. DT increased capital expenditure (excluding spectrum) 11.9 percent year-on-year to EUR 2.831 billion. The resulting higher depreciation and amortisation meant adjusted net profit, excluding the EE gain, was up just 1.1 percent. The increase in cash capex resulted in a moderate decline in free cash flow of 5 percent to 822 million euros. Deutsche Telekom confirmed its outlook for full-year results.
