Glass all gone after one-day sale, Google says

Google's one-day sale of Google Glass seems to have been a success with all units sold out, a blog post by the search giant suggests. "All spots in the Explorer Program have been claimed for now, but if you missed it this time, don't worry," the Google Glass team wrote on its blog on Wednesday. "We'll be trying new ways to expand the Explorer program in the future."

Google Glass, which has been the focus of considerable controversy, went on sale Tuesday -- for one day only -- at $1,500, with Android KitKat and new features that include improved battery life, photo bundles, photo replies and voice command sorting. However, one feature -- video calling -- has been eliminated because fewer than 10 percent of Explorer beta users employed it.

Google Glass gets KitKat support, leaves out video calls

Google Glass is getting a big software update to coincide with its one-day sale on Tuesday, but video calling is one feature that's been put on hold. The Internet-enabled headset will get KitKat, the newest version of the Android operating system for mobile devices, allowing longer battery life and easier updates, according to Google.
