IBM sues Priceline for patent infringement in U.S. court

IBM filed a lawsuit against Priceline Group Inc on Monday, accusing it of infringing four IBM patents in running its travel and dining websites. International Business Machines Corp asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware to bar Priceline from using the patents, to award IBM royalties and to order Priceline to pay IBM's costs and attorney's fees.

Sprint wins $27.6M in patent case against Comcast

Overland Park-based Sprint Corp. won $27.6 million in damages Friday from Comcast Corp. in a patent infringement case. After a one-week trial, a federal jury in Delaware found that Comcast infringed on Sprint patents by "making and using SONET ring networks in particular markets," according to court documents.

30 airlines sued over lightning-detection patent

A company holding a patent for a lightning detection system filed lawsuits against 30 airline companies Friday, alleging that the companies were infringing on its patent. The cases filed by Avioniqs, a Tyler-based company, said it held a July 1996 patent for a "Lightning Locating System" and that the airlines were using equipment that infringed on that patent.
