NW Raleigh-Quimby Sewer Replacement Project Update: Construction Starting Soon

Environmental Services will begin construction in mid-late March on a sewer replacement project on NW Raleigh and NW Quimby streets between NW 21st and 22nd avenues. The project will add needed capacity to the combined sewer and stormwater system, help reduce the potential for basement backups, and protect water quality and the environment. Work will begin in mid-late March and is expected to take approximately 4 months to complete.

Balch Conduit Support Project Construction Starts in Summer 2015

Environmental Service has completed designing a project that will replace and abandon pipes in poor condition and relieve street flooding and basement sewer backups in the area bounded by NW Yeon Avenue, NW 29th Avenue, NW Nicolai Avenue, and NW St. Helens Road. The project includes diverting stormwater to the Balch Consolidation Conduit sewer pipe, and replacing dams in the Balch Outfall pipe to prevent Willamette River water from backing up into the pipe during heavy rain events.

Clinton Green Street and Sewer Construction Update: March 3, 2015

As part of the Tabor to the River Program, Environmental Services continues construction on the Clinton Green Street and Sewer Project. This project will replace 3,800 feet of sewer pipe installed over 100 years ago, construct 24 green street planters and add two blocks of pervious paving. These improvements will protect public health, property and the environment, and reduce the possibility of sewage releases into streets, homes and businesses.

U.S. Construction Equipment Exports drop 13% in 2014.

Exports of U.S.-made construction equipment ended 2014 with a 13.2% drop compared to 2013, with a total $17.26 billion shipped to global markets. Business to Europe, South America, and Australia/Oceania was hit the hardest, according to AEM, citing U.S. Department of Commerce data it uses in global markets reports for members. Top countries buying the most U.S.-made construction machinery during 2014 (by dollar volume) were Canada, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and South Africa.
