SunCoke Energy Inc. and two of its subsidiaries have agreed to pay $1.995 million to resolve alleged Clean Air Act violations of emission limits at the Gateway Energy and Coke plant in Granite City, IL, and the Haverhill Coke plant in Franklin Furnace, OH. Companies will also spend $255,000 on a lead abatement project in southern Illinois to reduce lead hazards in owner-occupied low income residences with priority given to families with young children or pregnant women. Energy Department and NREL announced 182,500 ft² Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) in Golden, CO as latest Energy Department user facility, and only one in USA, focused on utility-scale clean energy grid integration. Facility's first industry partner, Colorado-based Advanced Energy Industries, has already signed on to start work at ESIF in developing lower cost, better performing solar power inverters.
