(Telecompaper) Verizon has won the bidding to buy Yahoo!'s web assets for USD 4.8 billion, Bloomberg reports. People with direct knowledge of the situation said the deal will be announced soon. The acquisition includes Yahoo real estate assets, while some intellectual property is to be sold separately, the report said. Yahoo will be left with its stakes in Alibaba Group and Yahoo Japan, with a combined market value of about USD 40 billion.

Yahoo to buy Flurry to strengthen mobile products

(Telecompaper) Yahoo has announced that it reached a definitive agreement to acquire mobile advertising and analytics platform Flurry to strengthen its commitment to build and support mobile applications and monetisation solutions. Flurry will benefit from Yahoo's resources to speed up the delivery of platforms to help developers build better apps, reach the right users and explore new revenue opportunities, said CEO Simon Khalaf. Flurry sees app activity from 1.4 billion devices a month and Flurry Analytics software can be found in 7 apps per device on average. The company's monetisation platform is used by 8,000 publishers and the company works with mobile developers in 150 countries. Following the closing of the transaction, Flurry will remain it its present location and its mission and focus will stay the same. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

(Telecompaper) Yahoo Japan has agreed to acquire 99.68 percent of the shares (33.29% of voting rights) of eAccess from Softbank for JPY 324 billion. The deal is scheduled to complete at start-June. eAccess and Willcom are scheduled to merge effective 01 June. Yahoo Japan's acquisition of the shares of eAccess is conditional upon this merger being completed. Yahoo Japan is making the acquisition to boost its mobile internet operations under the slogan 'Smart Devices First'.
