The Zombies played 'Odessey & Oracle,' new songs & more at The Concert Hall

Halfway through Side Two, during the Zombies' first complete New York concert rendition of their 1968 studio masterpiece, Odessey and Oracle, singer Colin Blunstone summed up the gently enchanting durability of that record and his band's gift for resurrection in the bright, marching glow of "This Will Be Our Year." In an improbably feathery tenor for a man who recently turned 70, Blunstone crooned the title chorus with the other surviving, original members of the group to his right: keyboard player Rod Argent, bassist Chris White and drummer Hugh Grundy.

Hailing from St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, the Zombies were one of the many British bands that set the music world on fire in 1964. Late that year, the group gleaned a giant hit with "She's Not There," while early 1965 saw "Tell Her No" also race to the very top of the charts.

Written by keyboardist Rod Argent for the revered British group's new album, Still Got That Hunger , "New York" is a fond remembrance of the first time Mr. Argent and his four bandmates set foot in our fair city.

The Zombies' "Odessey and Oracle" Tour Kicks Off Tonight in Dallas...

The Zombies launch a new U.S. trek tonight in Dallas that'll mark the first time the famed British Invasion band is touring with their original rhythm section -- bassist Chris White and drummer Hugh Grundy -- since the group's initial breakup in late 1967. As previously reported, White and Grundy will join The Zombies' current lineup -- led by founding singer Colin Blunstone and keyboardist Rod Argent -- for a full performance at each show of the band's influential and acclaimed 1968 album, Odessey and Oracle .
