PPG Industries today said it completed its purchase of Mexican paints maker Consorcio Comex, S.A. de C.V. for $2.3 billion -- a deal that positions Downtown-based PPG as the largest coatings company in the world. PPG in June said it had an agreement to buy Comex, and last week, Mexico's Federal Economic Competition Commission gave final regulatory approval to the transaction.
