U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz announced up to $220 million in new funding for consortium of DOE national laboratories and partners to support critical research and development over next 3 years to help modernize nation's electrical power grid. Secretary also announced release of DOE's comprehensive new Grid Modernization Multi-Year Program Plan, a blueprint for Department's research, development, and demonstration agenda to enable a modernized grid.

Two final United States Department of Energy (DOE) rules – The Energy Conservation Standard and The Test Procedure for Commercial and Industrial Pumps  – were released by Hydraulic Institute (HI). These releases mark culmination of 5+ years of effort and negotiations between DOE and interested parties. HI is reviewing these final rules and will discuss rulings during HI Annual Conference, which will occur February 11–15, 2016 in Tucson, AZ.
