Concord seeks better weapons station deal from Lennar

The city may try to negotiate a better deal with Lennar Urban before deciding whether to select the company to develop the Concord Naval Weapons Station. City staffers are recommending that the City Council on Tuesday delay its decision on a master developer and reopen negotiations with Lennar on five issues -- funds for affordable housing, Willow Pass Road improvements, use of binding arbitration, the right to develop future phases of the project and the firm's use of a limited liability corporation structure.

Concord: Catellus out of naval weapons station project

Catellus Development Corp. is out of the running to develop the first phase of the Concord Naval Weapons Station, leaving Lennar Urban as the city's remaining option. On a 2-1 vote Monday, City Council members rejected Catellus' request to change its term sheet and the negotiating agreement, and they agreed to refund the company's $250,000 deposit.

Developer may withdraw from East Bay naval weapons station project

After months of turmoil over the integrity of the selection process for a Concord Naval Weapons Station developer, one of the two competitors is poised to walk away from the multimillion-dollar project. During a special meeting Monday, the City Council will consider refunding Catellus Development Corp.'s $250,000 deposit, which Concord has used to cover its costs during negotiations.
