About a year after plans surfaced for a new Mercedes Benz dealership to replace the former Ming's restaurant near the Palo Alto Baylands, members of the city's Architectural Review Board remain skeptical. The Fletcher Jones Automotive Group, based in Nevada, wants to demolish the one-story building at 1700 Embarcadero Road to construct a glass-walled, three-story 62,000-square-foot building for an auto dealership with roof parking and a detached car wash in the back of the property.
