For a company that many on Wall Street had written off years ago, Yahoo is getting lots of attention right now as potential buyers appear to jockey for position ahead of a reported April 18 sale deadline. The Daily Mail, a British tabloid, is the latest in a who's who of telecom, Internet and media companies which the financial press has reported may be interested in all or parts of Yahoo.

Daily Mail in talks with private equity for Yahoo bid

(Telecompaper) The publisher of the UK newspaper Daily Mail has confirmed it is in talks with private equity companies about a takeover of Yahoo, the Guardian reports. The Daily Mail and General Trust, the parent company of the Daily Mail, confirmed that it has approached companies interested in a potential bid for Yahoo. Already the top news site in the UK, the Daily Mail has been focusing its growth efforts on expansion in the US. A spokesman for DMGT said the talks with potential bidders for Yahoo were at a "very early stage" and there is no certainty that any transaction will take place.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal , Daily Mail & General Trust PLC- the parent company of the British newspaper and tabloid- is in talks with multiple private equity companies to launch a bid for Yahoo. The Daily Mail is reportedly mainly interested in Yahoo's news and media properties.
