Southwest Airlines to add new summer flights from BWI

Southwest Airlines , the largest carrier at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport , announced Monday that it would add additional summertime flights to eight cities around the country - and plans to add more flights in the future. The Dallas-based airline is adding an extra flight each day to Hartford, Conn., and to Orlando and Tampa, Fla.

Southwest: Possible Bird Strike Prompts Flight Return to BWI

Southwest Airlines says a possible bird strike prompted pilots to return a flight to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport after takeoff. Southwest said in a statement Monday morning that Flight 484 took off for Rhode Island's T.F. Green Airport but returned safely.

New airline to launch at BWI

A low-cost Nevada airline known for serving travelers from smaller cities plans to begin flying out of Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport with six new routes this spring. Allegiant Air is slated to make the announcement at the airport Tuesday, offering a limited number of $39 one-way fares to promote the new service.

FAA's $16.8 million grant to Baltimore Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport will be used to complete fourth phase of taxiway improvement program for Runways 10/28 and 15R/33L. Construction is expected to be completed within 2016. As stated by U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx, this long-term economic investment will result in Baltimore area residents and surrounding communities experiencing "economic benefits of ongoing construction-related job opportunities."
