China Eastern will boost Australian flights if Qantas JV approved
2015-06-15 12:23:33| Airlines - Topix.net
China Eastern has committed to doubling the number of flights between its Shanghai hub and Sydney and Melbourne by November on the condition its proposed alliance with Qantas Airways is approved, in a move meant to alleviate concerns from the competition regulator. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission in March issued a surprise draft determination proposing to reject the proposed joint venture on the basis that they would have an incentive to raise prices or cut services on the Sydney-Shanghai route, where they are the dominant operators.
