Cut down on consumption to avoid being buried by garbage
2014-03-02 15:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Shanghai Daily: Spare a few minutes and think how you have contributed to the landfills that are closing in on the city or village where you live. How many plastic bags did you toss out today? The wrappers that were picked up by the wind and caught in tree twigs? That bag may sit in a landfill for up to 1,000 years before it disintegrates, and the pollution resulting from its degradation can hurt creatures searching for a meal. How many plastic bottles did you throw away today? Those empty vessels of our thirst,...

Power Transducers measure 3-phase wattage consumption.
2014-02-25 14:31:41| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Housed in compact DIN mounted case, APT Series measures 3 phases of current and voltage and produces analog signal proportional to watts used. Monitor uses current transformers to measure amperes, and line voltage connects directly to transducer, up to 600 Vac. Transducers can be configured to accept 5 A secondary current transformers or ProteCT™ low voltage output sensors. Equipped with finger safe terminals, units are externally powered and offer 4–20 mA, 0–5 Vdc, or 0–10 Vdc output. Reducing Energy Consumption in Swine Nurseries
2014-02-21 05:38:00| National Hog Farmer
By: Lora Berg A nationwide shortage of propane brought record-high energy prices for pork producers in many regions of the U.S. this winter. A rise in propane exports has been blamed for a decrease in domestic supplies. Drying a large late-2013 corn crop in the upper Midwest also contributed to the propane supply problem. Long periods of unusually low temperatures in many parts of the country led some propane distributors to ration supplies. The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) reported that even if pork producers could get propane, they were often paying a premium, as prices jumped from less than $2/gal. in mid-January to nearly $5/gal. by Feb. 1. read more
