Environment News Service: The new Republican-controlled Senate today voted for the first time to force U.S. approval of the controversial Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. A government contractor has agreed to pay $380,000 to settle civil claims involving allegations that it broke the law by submitting false claims to the U.S. Air Force.
