As stocks continue to plummet, on a day that many are deeming Black Monday, a local expert is saying that there's no need to panic just yet. Don Capener , dean of Jacksonville University's Davis College of Business, Ph.D, says that the Dow dropping nearly 600 points, from 1,000 points on Friday to just around 400 on Monday afternoon, is part of a downward trend that will continue for the next few weeks.

Cincinnati stocks haven't been able to escape the carnage that slammed the stock market the last few days, with industrial exporters bearing the brunt of the decline. At midday Monday, Milacron Inc. , a maker of plastics used in manufacturing that just went public in June, and AK Steel Holding Corp. suffered the two worst drops of any local stock going back to Thursday morning.

US stocks ended a volatile session off their worst levels but still sharply lower on the back of a major selloff that saw Chinese shares plunge to their lowest point since 2007. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which had fallen by over 1,000 points at the open, ended down 588.47 points or 3.6%, while the Nasdaq closed 3.8% or 179.79 points weaker.
