Intel confirms acquisition of Moovit for USD 900 million

(Telecompaper) Intel has confirmed the acquisition of mobility applications developer Moovit for USD 900 million, or USD 840 million net of Intel Capital's profit on its initial stake. Moovit is expected to add to Intel's ADAS business Mobileye and its plan to become a complete mobility provider.

(Telecompaper) Intel said first-quarter revenues beat expectations, jumping 23 percent from the year before to USD 19.8 billion, with adjusted earnings per share leaping 63 percent to USD 1.45. Still, looking ahead, Intel is guiding for lower revenues on a sequential basis, at USD 18.5 billion in Q2. Data-centric revenue is seen rising 25 percent while PC-centric revenue is expected flat to slightly up.

The Home Gateway Platform division includes chips for Wi-Fi access points and Ethernet and home gateway products. MaxLinear said the acquisition will complement its existing portfolio, bringing together a complete and scalable platform of connectivity and access service products for existing customers, and creating potential new revenue opportunities in adjacent target end-markets.
